So I Office account sign-in help close Excel, try to open it again without safe mode, and… nothing. To help you set up your organization, see Set up Office 365 for business – Admin Help. Step 1: Run the Office Quick Repair tool
You can't install the desktop PC or Mac versions of Office on your Chromebook, but depending on your Chromebook you may be able to install the Office mobile apps. Use the uninstall troubleshooter to uninstall Microsoft 365, Office 2021, Office 2019, or Office 2016 from your Windows PC. Unzip to a folder of your choosing, then run the file named SaraSetup.exe to install the program. You’ll see a dialog box like the one shown in Figure 9 open up and ask you to confirm installation. Microsoft SaRA is the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant. When you run a Quick Repair operation, Office will attempt simple repairs using local files already on your PC.

This takes you to the same screen shown in Figure 11 above, so you can keep going from here. If you’re lucky, when you open your formerly balky or misbehaving Windows app, all will be well. This sort of thing does occur from time to time, and it is often quite easy to repair.

When you install Office 365, all the applications that came with your particular Office product is installed at the same time. You can't custom select which Office applications you want to install or not install, nor you can't delete individual applications after your installation is complete. However, you can delete shortcuts to applications you don't plan to use.
You don't know what Office 365 product or license you have
Office’s Online Repair option works and goes through exactly the same steps as Quick Repair, so I won’t walk through all those screen shots again. This time, after you right-click your Office version in Programs and Features and select Change from the pop-up menu, select the Online Repair option instead and then click Repair. Office installations include a built-in repair tool, and that’s the first place to turn when things go awry. The absolute worst case requires running a cleanup tool on the current Office installation, followed by a clean install of a new copy of Office. That has never failed in my experience, any time I’ve had to go that far.

Unfortunately, there’s no general-purpose Microsoft Office document repair tool. If your documents are the cause of the problem, hopefully you have backup copies that haven’t been damaged. It’s less destructive because settings, templates, and other application data will not be deleted. If you're still having issues, admins can Contact Office 365 for business support. If you need more licenses, see Buy licenses for your Office 365 for business subscription. To remove a license from your subscription, see Remove licenses from your Office 365 for business subscription.
Install Office apps and set up email on a mobile device (iOS, Android, or Windows phone or tablet)
This provoked the request shown in Figure 4 (where, of course, I clicked Continue to close Outlook so repairs could work through to completion). Once you’ve clicked Change, you may see a User Account Control window asking for permission to run the repair program. Click Yes, and the built-in Office repair window appears. The Quick Repair option, as shown in Figure 2, is selected by default.
